Description
One of the commandments in Judaism is that every Jew should write the Torah on a parchment scroll exactly as it was written by Moses thousands of years ago. When a Jew completes his own Torah scroll, or when a professional scribe did it for him, it’s celebrated with a festive parade escorting the Torah scroll singing and dancing until it reaches the synagogue’s ark. The painting depicts Jews celebrating the completion of a Torah scroll in a Polish city in the previous century.
