Description

The Jewish Quarter, located above the Western Wall, was the home of Jews for many generations. They were expelled by the Jordanians in 1948 and were only able to return to the quarter after 20 years, when Jerusalem was liberated from Jordanian occupation in 1967. During the Jordanian occupation, Jews were not allowed to approach the Western Wall, their holiest site.
